Alka Tomar of Noida College of Physical Education won a bronze medal in the women’s category at the Senior World Wrestling Championship in Guangzhou, China from Sept 25-Oct 11, 2006. She was the first woman wrestler to win a medal in the World Championship 2006 in the 59 kg class bringing laurels for the country after a gap of 39 years.
