Noida: Independent India’s first Botanical Garden will be built in Noida at Sector 38. Previously existing gardens at Kolkata and Mysore were built during British rule. Environment Ministry along with Noida Authority has got into an agreement for its construction. The agreement has been signed on the basis of 50-50 partnership.
People will get to see flora of different states cultivated in different seasons as well as the one getting extinct. A research centre for conducting research on near to extinction species will also be made.
B. Prabhakar, Director, Botanical Garden, in the 175th board meeting of the Noida Authotity said, “The garden will be a one of its kind. Construction work for research centre and National Museum will be looked after by Indian Government, whereas Noida Authority will be charged with the responsibility of development work. It will take 5 years for the garden to get build. However, Noida authorities will complete its share of work in one and half years.”
The basic aim is to make people more aware about spreading greenery and related benefits. That is why the garden will be an amalgamation of different types of plants and trees.
