When one is surrounded by the tenderness and cordiality of family and friends, it becomes easier and rather entertaining to face any situation. As a kid, I used to wonder if I could be sick or injured, my cousins and friends would visit me even more frequently. And, that would have made my days filled with ‘extra’ fun. Sounds horrible! However, if we think about it with a different angle, we would come across a wonderful reality.

The other day one of my cousins, living alone in some other city, had to make a trip to the hospital. He had a few of those tiny stones in his stomach that leave one with a very bothering pain. Therefore, he took a three-day leave from his office and got himself admitted in the hospital. As planned, he was treated on the first day itself and had to stay admitted for the next two days. Fortunately, those three days turned his ‘leave’ into a beautiful holiday. A few of his relatives and friends staying nearby gave him a visit. Along with those visits, came the mouth-watering sweets and other homemade delicacies, the joy of which he had not had since a long while. Moreover, he spent all his time chatting and laughing with them and rarely found an occasion to realize his pain. Hence, with the joy and ecstasy of those warm bonds, he recovered soon and got back to work. When he told me about this trip, I could feel the intense delight that he experienced then and nurtured forever.

This is the perspective that gives its way towards a wonderful reality, in which the support and spirit of our beloved ones helps us to face and get over almost any kind of situation without realizing the twinge. Oh yes, I would call it a ‘twinge’ rather than ‘pain’ as it appears to me that pain is just a short-term feeling that is so trivial when faced by the affection of those gentle hearts.

Also in response to the complaints by farmers that they are being cut off from the expressway, the Yamuna Expressway Authority has decided to increase the number of underpasses, service lanes and ramps. Close to 71 underpasses and service lanes will be built on the expressway which goes up to Agra.

Meanwhile, the Shahdara, Lakhanwali and Sudhiana villages which were under the Greater Noida Authority jurisdiction have been transferred so that the farmers can now claim a compensation of Rs 1,050 per square metre as compensation as against the prevailing rate of Rs 930 per square metre.

But most of the farmers seemed to be unhappy with the decision. “This decision will only bring temporary relief. They should give uniform compensation and we will not back out until our demands are met” said one of the farmers.

The group of six students arrived at The Millenium School in Noida, as a part of their three day sojourn in the city.

Warda Shakoor, a class 11 Science student of Sanjan Nagar School in Lahore, said “Women in India dress up smartly and follow a vibrant culture like ours. They have a flashy lifestyle and are very pretty”.

“Our cultures are similar to a large extent plus people here are cooperative, warm and affectionate. I doubt if you can make out the difference between an Indian and Pakistani student” said Esha Khan, a student of class 10.

“We want the relations to improve between both the countries, but they are certain powers including foreign which do not want the relations to progress” stated Sidra Shoaib, a class 11 student.

Baela Raza Jamil, the management trustee of the Lahore-based school, said “In order to increase the interaction between the students of both the nations, we are planning to form a Joint Knowledge Production Forum which will also help reduce the long standing differences among the future generations”.

She also urged both the Indian and Pakistani government to support the initiative and encourage students from both the sides to explore the countries.
