A press conference was held in The Great India Place to announce one of the biggest property carnivals in the NCR region. More than 50 real estate developers are expected to participate in the event, which will last for two days.

The carnival will give various options to families in terms of choosing a dream home for themselves and will cater to various income groups and suit the pockets of all.

The carnival is planned in a way so that the common man can also interact with the dealers and clear their doubts. Special offers and discounts will also be announced for the customers participating in the event.

People will get to take part in lot of fun filled activities and the major hallmark of this mega jamboree will be the lucky draw and surprise gifts. They can also enjoy with their family in the mall.

The carnival is being organized by ARS Media Arts, a leading Advertising and Promotions Firm. The event promises to provide a deep insight on the various options present in the market and educate the masses in how to carefully determine the factors in making the right decision to choose a house for themselves.

UP government might scrap townships alongside Yamuna Expressway

With the entire land acquisition project coming to a halt due to the 37 day agitation by farmers, the Uttar Pradesh government is planning to scrap five model townships which were set to come up alongside the 165 km long Yamuna Expressway connecting Noida and Agra.

A written application has been given to the state government by the Aligarh District Magistrate K. Ravindra Naik recommending the scrapping of the townships. A decision on the same is likely going to be taken today.

The responsibility of executing the project is given to infrastructure major Jaypee Infratech. According to P.K Sehgal, General Manager of Jaypee, “We are aware that a recommendation has been sent to the government by the DM, and they are going to take a decision soon”.

He also stated that they can’t go ahead with the project until and unless they don’t get a nod by both the government and the Yamuna Expressway Authority.

The government needs more than 10,000 acres of land for the expressway and township projects. The lands are spread across five main districts, Gautam Budh Nagar, Agra, Aligarh, Mathura and Hathras.

In the latest development, the Uttar Pradesh government has deployed a specially trained and armed unit of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) at all places in the city. The initiative has been taken to familiarize the ATS with the city surroundings ahead of the commonwealth games.

This step has been taken for the first time by the government to ensure the safety of the players during the games.

“Most of the guards will be deployed in the trans-Hindon area, that is, in and around Noida & Ghaziabad. The squad will be armed and equipped with bullet proof jackets and helmets” said Chief of Ghaziabad police, Raghubir Lal.

He also stated that apart from the squad, police units will also be deployed throughout the city to enhance the security measure and help the visitors during CWG.

After the recent strike by farmers in Uttar Pradesh, the Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authorities have decided to take notice and meet their demands.

In a meeting on Tuesday, both the authorities announced a hike of Rs. 154 per square metre as compensation toall the farmers whose land was acquired in Agra and Aligarh.

Also in response to the complaints by farmers that they are being cut off from the expressway, the Yamuna Expressway Authority has decided to increase the number of underpasses, service lanes and ramps. Close to 71 underpasses and service lanes will be built on the expressway which goes up to Agra.

Meanwhile, the Shahdara, Lakhanwali and Sudhiana villages which were under the Greater Noida Authority jurisdiction have been transferred so that  the  farmers can now claim a compensation of Rs 1,050 per square metre as compensation as against the prevailing rate of Rs 930 per square metre.

But most of the farmers seemed to be unhappy with the decision. “This decision will only bring temporary relief. They should give uniform compensation and we will not back out until our demands are met” said one of the farmers.

With a mission to spread peace and love, six Pakistani students visited a Noida school on Wednesday.

The group of six students arrived at The Millenium School in Noida, as a part of their three day sojourn in the city.

Warda Shakoor, a class 11 Science student of Sanjan Nagar School in Lahore, said “Women in India dress up smartly and follow a vibrant culture like ours. They have a flashy lifestyle and are very pretty”.

“Our cultures are similar to a large extent plus people here are cooperative, warm and affectionate. I doubt if you can make out the difference between an Indian and Pakistani student” said Esha Khan, a student of class 10.

“We want the relations to improve between both the countries, but they are certain powers including foreign which do not want the relations to progress” stated Sidra Shoaib, a class 11 student.

Baela Raza Jamil, the management trustee of the Lahore-based school, said “In order to increase the interaction between the students of both the nations, we are planning to form a Joint Knowledge Production Forum which will also help reduce the long standing differences among the future generations”.

She also urged both the Indian and Pakistani government to support the initiative and encourage students from both the sides to explore the countries.

In a major turn of events in Noida, the Noida Okhla Development Authority has announced that all the city schools will reserve 75% seats only for the residents of the area, which may include farmers as well.

“It is necessary that common man is included in the development and progress of their respective cities. Many have suffered due to the same and hence this decision was taken keeping in mind both the rich and the poor” said Mohinder Singh, Chairman & CEO of Noida Authority.

The government has taken this initiative keeping in mind the farmers who have always felt neglected and were up in arms against them. Farmers have been demanding for a long time that the government should ensure that certain amount of seats should be reserved in both private and government schools for their children.

“Lands have been leased out at subsidized rates so that schools can be set up for the welfare of the locals. The decision has received a positive response from many of them,” said the chairman.

Jnmashtami is one of the prominent Hindu festivals celebrated amidst much fanfare. It falls on the Ashtami Tithi , the eighth day of the dark half or Krishna Paksha of the month of Shraavana as per the Hindu Calendar.

On this day people visit temples in large numbers to seek blessings of the much revered Lord Krishna. People celebrate the occasion by singing hymns and enacting plays like Mahabharata and Rasa Leela (Dramatic Enactments).

A famous ceremony, which has been further popularized by Bollywood, the Dahi Handi is performed on this auspicious day. This ceremony is eagerly awaited for by the youth, as they compete with each other to break the the Dahi Handi which is full of butter. This is symbolism of Lord krishna stealing butter when he was a child.

Generous prizes are given to the team which successfully breaks the handi.

Priests in temples chant holy mantras and bath the idol with Panchamrit which comprises of Gangajal (water from the holy Ganges River), milk, ghee (clarified butter), curd, and honey pouring all these from a shankh or conch shell.

The festival which is also known as Gokulashtami is celebrated prominently in the twin cities of Mathura and Brindavan which boast of more than 400 Krishna temples.

The celebrations begin from midnight when Lord Krishna was born and carry on throughout the day. Janmashtami is a festival which is liked by all whether it is for the ceremonies and plays, the religious sentiments or just the fun of staying up till late at night.

kjOn the occasion of Janmashtami, the Iskcon Temple in Noida like every year will celebrate the festival with great fervor. More than 1,500 people are expected to visit the temple, during the morning ‘Aarti’ which is conducted at 4:30 am.

The day which will start with special puja will continue till late in the night. ‘Mahabhishekam’ will also be performed and a cultural programme has been organised with artists being brought in from Brindavan to perform Rasa Leela and other dance forms. It will surely be a day to remember!


Special light-men have been flown in from Kolkata to decorate the temple premises. Stores at the Iskcon temple will sell beautiful images, books and other puja accessories of Lord Krishna.

The festivities will go on till the wee hours of September 3 and will have MP Surinder Singh Nagar and Chairman of Priya Gold Biscuits B.P Aggarwal as the guests of honour.

“We have brought flowers especially from Brindavan and Mathura to use in puja as well as to make the Phool Bangla (House for God). There will be stalls, pandals and Jhanki’s will also be carried out tomorrow” said Budhimanta Das, PRO of Iskcon temple, Noida.

More than 250 police officials have been deployed for the grand event tomorrow along with 100 security guards of their own.

Noida Board gives green signal to Ganga Water Project

The Noida Authority has finally given a nod to the Ganga water project. In a meeting held on Tuesday, the board has allotted Rs. 47.40 crore for the project.

As per the resolution passed in the meeting, a head regulator has to be built, to carry 37.50 cusec water at the Upper Ganges Canal (UGC) and its branch canals. The water will be supplied to the various residential sectors of the city.

Also the rule that 20 percent allotment amount has to be given to build education institutions is slashed and now only 10 percent allotment amount has to be given.

It was also decided that an Industrial Training Institute will be set up to train youths as there is huge demand and need for skilled labours in industrial sectors.

baby-krishnaThe Srikrishna Leela Committee has planned to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami amidst much fanfare. The preparations for the festival which marks the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna have already started.

According to committee President Kuldeep Nagar “The event will be organized in the Beta sector II club premises like every year with the support and participation of all the locals”.

The festive celebrations will include bhajans, dance, drama programmes and chanting of mantras revolving around Lord Krishna. Also a procession of Lord Krishna will be carried out along with breaking of the Dahi Handi.

“We have discussed the plan and have started the preparations so that the festival is celebrated without any chaos and everything is arranged properly” said Kuldeep Nagar.
