DPS Noida celebrates 26th Annual Function

Delhi Public School, Noida, celebrated its 26th Annual Function on Sunday at the Kamani Auditorium.
More than 150 students took part in a ballet which was the highlight of the programme. The ballet, based on Arjun, the mythological hero of Mahabharata was conceptualised and choreographed by Prabir Datta, the dance teacher at the school while the script was written by Sharda Manocha, who is a senior teacher.
The half hour long ballet depicted Arjun’s dedication, hard work and thirst for knowledge and included traditional Indian dance forms as well as western jazz and break-dance pieces.
While students helped in the sets and prop work, professionals were hired to work along with them. “It’s completely an in- house production,” media coordinator Mukul Saxena said while adding that preparations for the function took two months.
The audience appreciated the hard work much to the delight of the students. “It was a very well executed performance by the children,” Neelu Kulshrestha, a parent, said.
Principal Nina Sehgal in her welcome address said “Arjun can be seen as a ‘super teenager’ who faces the challenges of studies, the weight of people’s expectations and competition from his peers and emerges a hero.”
CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi was the chief guest at the event, while the guests of honour included DPS Society chairman Ashok Chandra and other DPS society members.
