Noida: Traffic congestion is proving to be one of the major problems for Noidaites while commuting from one place to another. But soon the citizens of the city will have three underpasses for better connectivity on road. The Authority will begin work on the three underpasses on the Master Plan Road Number-III removing all stops from the stretch connecting the Okhla Barrage near Kalindi Kunj to Sector 71 in Noida. The underpasses will be constructed at a cost of Rs 110 crore. "The first underpass will be constructed at a cost of Rs 24 crore. It will be located at the crossroads of sectors 94 and 95. Commuters face regular bottlenecks at this junction. Traffic moving towards Delhi and Faridabad has to flow from Sectors 94 and 95 via the cremation grounds towards the Okhla Barrage and Kalindi Kunj Bridge.

The underpass will facilitate smooth movement of vehicles to and from Noida, Faridabad, Delhi and Ghaziabad" said Yadav Singh, engineer in chief, Noida Authority. The second underpass that will be come up at the crossroads of sectors 39, 35, 32 & 51 is designed to be six-lane and will cost Rs 34 crore. This passage will facilitate the traffic coming from the City-Centre in Sector 32. It will be constructed under the City-Centre Metro station. Traffic coming from Sectors 49, 50, 41 will flow freely towards sectors 32, 35, 24 and the crossroads of sectors 12 and 22 once the underpass is in place.

The next underpass will be located at the crossing of sectors 71, 72, 52 & 51. Estimated to come up at a cost of Rs 42 crore, the underpass will benefit lakhs of vehicles each day. "Once the underpass is operational, traffic can move unhindered from the City Centre side towards Sector 62. Commuters travelling from Sector 51 to sectors 71, 119, 112 and Greater Noida can enjoy a congestion-free, smooth drive," explained Yadav Singh. The Noida Authority will prepare a detailed report of the traffic movement in the area to ensure that the work does not create any additional hassle for commuters.
