Noida:  The Electricity Distribution Corporation (EDC) has geared up to take strict action against those who have not paid their electricity bills for a long time. In such cases the meter of the consumer would be taken off and his property would be seized. The order has been passed in a meeting held in Lucknow on Saturday.

However, total six thousand consumers have been declared black listed, for not having paid their electricity bills for months or years alltogether. But now, corporation has planned to take strict action against them. All the black listers will be issued a notice under section 3 and 5, in which one month notice will be given to the consumer to clear his dues. In between, those who do not pay their bills will be issued another notice under section-5 by the Authority in which the action liable to be taken against them will be clearly mentioned.

The superintendent engineer of Electricity Distribution board Noida, DP Singh said, “Government has plans to take strict action against consumers who have not payed their electric bills. We have already started to take off the meters of such consumers.”

On the other hand the Authority will have to help the corporation to collect the dues.
