Summer has reached its pick touching the season’s highest at 43.1 degree Celsius today. This is the indication that the worst still has to come. Today was a hottest day in the city as the maximum temperature touched 43.1 degrees Celsius, four notches above the normal this time of the year. It was also the hottest day of the season, the Met official said.

Today  the mercury at 43.1 degrees Celsius also broke the five-year record by being the hottest May since theyear 2006," according to the IMD official. Last year, the maximum temperature on May 12 was 41 degrees Celsius. In 2009 it was 37 degrees, and in 2008 it was 38 degrees. The minimum temperature recorded early Thursday was five degrees above the average, at 29.6 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday the minimum and maximum temperature are expected to touch 29 and 42 degrees Celsius respectively.
