Noida: A meeting was held today between the protesting farmers and the authority officials at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra in Sector 6 where authorities accepted most of the demands of the farmers and farmers agreed to withhold their agitation for three months.
The demands which were accepted by the authorities included allotment of the 5% developed land to the farmers and regularization of abaadi area. It was also agreed that builders will continue their construction work.
During the negotiation, farmers` representatives talked tough, saying they want a written assurance about time-bound resolution of their concerns.
"We have received the letter and we have decided to seek a written assurance from the Authority that all our demands will be addressed by August 12," said Samiti member Manoj Tyagi. "Besides higher compensation and developed plots against our acquired lands, we will also negotiate on the 21 other demands farmers have charted out," he added.
The Samiti`s list of demands to the Authority includes the right to free health checks at hospitals, jobs for unemployed villagers and free education for children. Noida farmers have threatened to disrupt construction at various housing projects on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway if their demands are not met.
Meanwhile, Greater Noida Authority has also begun identifying villagers whose petitions are actually pending in court, to hold "secret one-on-one talks". "We have been talking to the villagers, mainly on their respective abadi disputes, and have begun sorting out the differences. We will talk to all villagers in Greater Noida, one by one, and find a solution to their problems," official revealed.
