Noida: The industrial units in Phase 3 are of the city have been facing regular power cuts for five to six hours, which are hampering their production. The areas in Sector 57,58,59,60,61,62,64 and Sector71 are reportedly reeling under power cut though situation has improved in the other sectors.

Vipin Malhan, the president of the Noida Entrepreneur Association (NEA), who met with the representatives of industries’ and the electricity board says “it is a cause of worry for industrial units as their productivity is being hampered due to prolonged power cuts” Meanwhile, the demand has gone down during the monsoon season ruling out possibilities of load shedding.

On the other hand A P Mishra, the UPPVUN Chief Engineer attributes the power failure to the fault in the power line and damaged cables. He, however, has given assurance of uninterrupted power supply across all the sectors of the industrial area of Phase 3.This would be done after rectifying all the faults in the transmission line.

The industrial units have to resort to power back up that consumes much of the fuel. The cost of fuel is too high and thus, units cannot afford to run its production on it. There has been growing concerns over the power cut in the Phase 3 area for the past few days. According to the officials of the Electricity Board, out of the total production of the city over 60 per cent of the power is supplied to the industrial units.
