Noida: The best feature of a democracy is that every single citizen enjoys the right to vote and choose the candidate of his/her choice. Amid the complaints of people blaming the election commission for the irregularity in missing out their names from the voter’s list there was someone who was indebted to the EC for including her name in the list. It was a moment of joy for a handicapped young girl who visited the polling booth present at APS Army School at Sector 37 Noida.
With hopes of a better future 24 year old Lily Gracy came to exercise her voting right for the first time. Lily came along with her mother Stella, pushing her wheel chair at the polling booth and was very excited that she will vote for the first time. Lily, who resides in the Harijan Basti near Sector 37, is a native of Kerala but she has been living here since birth. She always wanted to cast her vote but unfortunately did not succeed in getting her voter’s ID card. But this time she got the opportunity to cast her vote and select the candidate of her choice. She hopes that the coming government will help her in the best possible way. Talking to Newzstreet.com Lily said, “I am very happy as I am getting a chance to vote for the first time but the happiness would be doubled if I get some help from the government’s side”.
Lily represents hundreds of such handicapped people who are still deprived of their fundamental rights. Well it would be worth noticing that does the new government really connects with these people and helps for the upliftment of such people.
