The fruits which you are buying from mandis thinking that you are getting them at a cheaper rate, you are wrong!. In a recent survey this fact has been revealed that buying fruits from mandi is costlier than retail shops.

Fruits of all varieties and sizes have flooded the city market but they have become the rich man’s commodity with prices skyrocketing. In mandis cost of watermelon stands at  Rs. 20 per kg but in retail shops you will get it for Rs. 10 to 12 per kg. There is a huge difference in these rates. To fill their pockets the fruit sellers in mandis hike their prices like anything. Another reason behind this is the export duty.

On the other hand, the rates on retail shops are reasonable because they buy fruits direct from the farmer and they don’t have to shed extra money on transportation.
