Noida: NH 24 development work has stuck as there is a lack of co-ordination among Noida Authority, GDA and NHAI. NH 24 was proposed to be widened to eight lanes and equipped with flyovers and underpasses, to facilitate the flow of traffic.
There is no respite for commuters though NH 24 as the development work seems to have stuck a roadblock as National Highway Authority of India is unable to reach a common consensus. The proposed plan and subsequent discussions to modernise NH 24 involved Chief Secretary of the State.
It is to be widened to eight lanes from UP gate to Hapur for which a budget of Rs. 180 crores was decided. Noida Authority and Greno Authority have deposited their share of expenses, 45 crores each. But, NHAI is not paying heed to the development project. There are plans to construct three underpasses between Noida and Ghaziabad drive and two local leaf shaped flyovers. Civil department got the draft approved by IIT Delhi and Rights before forwarding it to NHAI.
This cold approach from NHAI is creating trouble for 1.25 Lakh vehicles that ply between Noida and Ghaziabad daily, using NH 24. The whole project seems to be victim of dilly dallying as there is no response from NHAI.
